The company’s technical solution can disinfect the inside lumen of medical tubes, including catheters and endotracheal tubes with UVC light exposure. In preventive use, it is possible to keep the inner surfaces of the life-sustaining medical tubes free of infectious microorganisms, thereby reducing the risk of catheter-related infections.
UV Clinical has in recent years been working on the development of a first version of a product prototype that includes a multi-use UVC light source and a single-use UVC lightguide to be
inserted into the catheter during disinfection.
The technical solution is categorized as class II medical equipment. Over the next 24 months, UV Clinical will take the prototype to a verified and validated medical device, ready for the FDA approval process.
